Leeds Hackspace has been running for two years and is a group aiming to provide Leeds with a permanent not-for-profit hackspace. If you’re unsure about what to expect form hackspaces in general, http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/Hackerspaces is a great introduction to them.
Our 2011-2012 directors are:
Finanical – JP (up to January 2012, now awaiting a new FD)
Promotion/Communications – Alex (up to January 2012)
Companies House/HMRC Liaison – Daniel
Without Portfolio – Mick
We are currently working to secure a bigger, better workshop and event space in the heart of Leeds and are busy fundraising to make this happen. Check the fundraising thermometer on the right hand side of the page to see how we’re doing!
Our members come from a range of backgrounds, have differing levels of experience and are interested in everything from woodworking to programming to robots with lasers. The hackspace will give us a shared workshop to develop our skills, collaborate on projects and be more active in our community.
We currently meet on Tuesday evenings in city centre venues to discuss projects, share ideas and socialise – anyone is welcome to join us. When the new venue has been acquired it will be open most weekday nights and weekends for members to visit and will host regular events for both members and the general public.
